Attorney Christopher Yuhl

 Mr. Yuhl earned his a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado in 1983 while also serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. He earned his J.D. from the University Of San Diego School Of Law in 1987 where he earned accolades as a member of the USD National Trial Team.

Mr. Yuhl began his career as an associate with the 160-lawyer defense firm of Haight, Dickson, Brown & Bonesteel where he specialized in civil litigation and trials. While at Haight, he established his trial skills early as lead trial counsel in 12 trials, both in complex litigation and as a pro bono prosecutor in the criminal division of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office. In 1990, Mr. Yuhl was credited with obtaining the largest monetary recovery on a cross-complaint in the firm's then 54-year history with his $1.7 million victory in the “flying triangle landslide case”.

In 1992, Mr. Yuhl joined his brother Eric in plaintiff’s practice where his success continued. Over the years, Mr. Yuhl has settled or tried several multi-million personal injury cases which include his verdict in Settle v. Queen of the Angels Hospital, the first jury case in the country to successfully prove the traumatic activation of post-polio syndrome. Mr. Yuhl has been given an AV rating by Martindale Hubble for his excellence as an attorney specializing in complex personal injury matters, insurance and professional negligence cases.


Attorney Eric F. Yuhl

Eric F. Yuhl graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California at San Diego in 1977. He received his law degree (Juris Doctor) from the University of San Diego School of Law in June of 1981, and was immediately admitted to the California State Bar.

In November of 1981, Mr. Yuhl began his legal career as a Trial Associate in the Litigation Department of the prestigious California law firm of Lillick McHose & Charles (now Pillsbury Winthrop, one of the largest law firms in the United States). During his years with the Lillick firm, Mr. Yuhl specialized in the handling of complex civil litigation gaining a unique level of trial experience having tried to conclusion over 15 jury trials, civil and criminal.

Mr. Yuhl left the Lillick firm to engage in private practice, opening in 1985 what ultimately proved to be the founding office of Yuhl Stoner Carr LLP in Santa Monica, California. Continuing to specialize in the handling of complex personal injury, employment, and business cases over the ensuing twenty five years, Mr. Yuhl enjoys an AV national rating of excellence by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating of excellence award to an individual attorney. Mr.Yuhl also has an impressive and proven track record of securing multi-million dollar settlements, arbitration awards, and jury verdicts for his clients in each area of the firm’s practice specialization.

 

Attorney James P. Carr

James P. Carr graduated Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1972. In 1976, Mr. Carr obtained his Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School. He was admitted to the Maryland State Bar that same year.

After practicing briefly in Maryland, Mr. Carr moved to California in 1977, where he was admitted to the State Bar that year and joined the prestigious civil litigation defense firm of Cummins, White & Breidenbach. During his tenure there, Mr. Carr specialized in defending major American and foreign manufacturers in complex product liability litigation. After being elevated to full partner, Mr. Carr was invited to join the established practice of prominent personal injury trial attorney David M. Harney with the firm later becoming Harney, Wolfe, Shaller & Carr where he re-focused his practice on the representation of catastrophically injured clients.

In his thirty plus years of experience, Mr. Carr has tried over 60 cases to verdict, including many seven-figure verdicts in favor of his clients. In addition, Mr. Carr has settled more than 40 cases on behalf of his clients for amounts in excess of $1 million and additional scores of cases for amounts nearing that figure. Mr. Carr specializes in the handling of complex personal injury and catastrophic tort litigation, and is regarded by the legal community as one of its top personal injury litigators and trial attorneys

 

Attorney Tyler J. Barnett

 Tyler J. Barnett graduated Cum Laude from the University of California, San Diego in 1999 with a degree of Bachelor of Arts and major in Political Science / Public Law. In 2002, Mr. Barnett obtained his Juris Doctor from University of Southern California Law School with High Honors in Pre-Trial Advocacy and as an Editor of the Hale Moot Court Honors Program. He was admitted to the California State Bar that same year.

Mr. Barnett began his legal career as an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Michael J. Piuze, which won the two largest verdicts in history for an individual plaintiff in the amounts of $28 billion and $3 billion. Mr. Barnett was a principal associate on catastrophic injury and automotive crashworthiness cases involving rollover induced roof crush ($23 million verdict), tire failure and rollover of 15 passenger van ($12 million settlement), passenger restraint failure ($8 million settlement) and instability and rollover of SUV ($6 million settlement).

In 2005, he opened his own law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of injured victims and joined Yuhl Stoner Carr LLP in 2007. Since that time he has won several seven-figure cases for his personal injury clients, including wrongful death against the MTA ($1.9 million), negligent security and maintenance of an apartment building ($1.85 million), onboard fall against a shuttle bus company ($1.375 million) and a major confidential settlement for an injury resulting from an improperly maintained wheelchair lift ($2 million).

Mr. Barnett is a member of the Ten Million Dollar Lawyers Club and Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles, Consumer Attorneys of California, American Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.

In 2007 and 2008, Mr. Barnett was named as one of Southern California Super Lawyers - Rising Stars.

 

Attorney George K. Rosenstock

George K. Rosenstock graduated from City College of New York in 1971, after attending the Juilliard School of Music, majoring in Piano and composition from 1965 to 1968, and winning the Trouper’s Scholarship in Piano 1966 and 1967, before going on to the Case Western Reserve University Law School where he was a member of the National Moot Court Team and published in the Law Review, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1974. Mr. Rosenstock is a member of the Ohio, California and New York Bars.

After devoting years to public service in New York and Los Angeles as a Special Attorney to the United States Justice Department, Organized Crime Strike Force, and Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Homicide Bureau of the Kings County (Brooklyn) District Attorney’s Office, handling over 50 major state and federal criminal trials, including a criminal prosecution of a Chicago-based organized crime syndicate for loan sharking under the RICO statute, Mr. Rosenstock joined the prestigious California law firm of Lillick McHose & Charles (now Pillsbury Winthrop, one of the largest law firms in the United States). During years with the Lillick/Pillsbury firm, Mr. Rosenstock’s trial experience was utilized in the Business Litigation and Creditor’s Rights Departments where he tried complex business litigation, intellectual property (patent and copyright infringement), securities and bankruptcy matters.

Attorney Reilly Atkinson, Esq.
(1960-2010)

We lost Reilly on March 15, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his beautiful wife Colleen and three daughters, Annie, Katie and Erin.

We miss Reilly every day. The planet was a better place with him on it. But our wonderful memories of Reilly live on in all of us that knew him as a partner, friend, lawyer, father, brother, son or husband. Reilly was a great lawyer, great partner, and great friend to all of us at Yuhl Stoner Carr LLP.

We will always honor his memory and legacy.
