LawInfo developed its Lead Counsel Program in 1996 in order to provide a simple, convenient, and reliable way for both consumers and businesses to find qualified legal representation they can count on. Since that time, thousands of LawInfo visitors have sought out the services of Lead Counsel rated attorneys to help with their legal matters.
To become a member and earn the Lead Counsel designation, an attorney must receive multiple peer recommendations advocating his or her inclusion into the program. This is a key component in our screening and selection process. We verify every Lead Counsel candidate's application, and check all references. Additionally, LawInfo contacts the state bar to make sure there have never been disciplinary sanctions taken against the applicant.
Listings are exclusive and limited to only four panel positions per practice area and area code combination. This helps to support our primary purpose to present the best qualified attorneys and law firms in all geographic locations.
Should LawInfo discover disciplinary sanctions, the applicant does not receive Lead Counsel Member designation.
Many Lead Counsel Member attorneys hold official positions in renowned legal organizations and occupy positions on established professional boards. Additionally, many have won awards, authored articles and books, been recognized by their Bar Associations, and have played, and continue to play important roles in their communities.
Although the Lead Counsel Program is not an attorney referral service, LawInfo takes the Lead Counsel Program qualification process seriously and relies on attorney applicants, attorney peers (references), and attorney members to do the same. Members commit to notifying LawInfo immediately should any status change in their practices that may make them ineligible for continuation in The Lead Counsel Program.
Thousands of top attorneys have relied on LawInfo's expertise and guidance to help them target and attract more potential clients than ever before. For attorneys who qualify, the Lead Counsel Program offers the following benefits:
Many attorneys who have qualified for the Lead Counsel program have chosen not to be listed in the LawInfo directory since Lead Counsel firms and attorneys listed in the attorney directory pay a fee to Lawinfo.
Lawinfo.com is not a referral service and does not make recommendations or endorsements of the use of any attorney's services.

We do research the attorneys that apply for the Lead Counsel Program (only), allow qualified applicants / members to use the designation and, if they so choose, participate in Internet advertising in some form of directory listing, for a fee.
