Jacksonville Business Law Attorney
Jeb T. Branham
In today's fast-paced business environment, most people and most businesses, no matter how large or small, would substantially benefit to have a trusted, experienced legal advisor who understands your unique legal circumstances and who knows how to help you navigate the increasingly complex legal climate.
As a skilled Jacksonville Business Law Attorney, my goal is to bring every client the benefit of experience developed at two of the nation's best and largest law firms – McGuireWoods and King & Spalding – with the personal attention you can only get from a small practice. I can bring you the legal sophistication gained from working in a big firm environment for some of the world's largest corporations like the Coca-Cola Company, General Motors, Eli Lilly & Company, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, and 3M combined with the personal attention you can only get from a small practice. Practicing at the best firms and working for the most demanding clients in the world put an attention to quality in my work that most lawyers have not had the opportunity or need to develop.
As an experienced Jacksonville Business Law Attorney, I have helped clients throughout Florida and Georgia in the following practice areas:
- Breach of contract matters
- Disputes between current or former partners, shareholders, or owners
- Disputes with regulatory or governmental agencies
- Enforcement or defense of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements
- Insurance coverage matters
- Business law
- Commercial litigation
- Leases
- Corporate structuring
- Buying and selling of businesses
- Ownership agreements
- Commercial real estate
- Business mergers and acquisitions
- Business mediation
- Strategic planning
- Negotiations
The clients that I represent need business or government problems solved. Business and commercial litigation, non-compete issues, incorporation, organizing limited liability companies, formation of other businesses, contracts for growing or selling a business, and government and administrative law matters provide the focus of my practice. I am also experienced with Appeals and alternative forums like arbitration.
I want my clients to give up nothing in quality or sophistication of legal services while only gaining in responsiveness and attention. I bring a practical, business-oriented approach to advising my clients. I will discuss the economics of your situation with you clearly and openly to make sure you do not spend unnecessary money or have unpleasant surprises. I have practiced law since 1995, and I am licensed in Georgia and Florida. I handle matters throughout both states, with most matters occurring in Northeast Florida or South Georgia.
Representative clients include Golfito Sailfish Rancho, a Costa Rican fishing lodge, Econo Auto Painting, a regional franchisor of body shops, the Town of Callahan, Florida, and the Town of Baldwin, Florida. Among many others, representative matters include class action warranty litigation against a major manufacturer of marine engines, non-compete litigation between employers and former employees, administrative law litigation with the State of Florida before the Department of Administrative Hearings, the purchase and sale of a retail store, the purchase and sale of a burglar alarm monitoring business, a buy-in to a skateboard park and retail store, litigation over an easement between a restaurant and an adjoining shopping center, and defamation (libel and slander) of someone's personal and business reputation.
I develop relationships that work for both of us, built on a low-volume practice. I serve clients with a larger litigation matters, typically $20,000 or more at issue, and businesses with substantial or ongoing needs. I charge $225 per hour and require a minimum fee advance of $2,000. One hour consultations are billed at a flat rate of $200.
I handle business matters. I do not handle consumer disputes (general examples include disputes over retail merchandise, vehicles, and consumer services). If you do not know whether you have a business or consumer dispute, and you paid less than $20,000 for the item or service at issue, then you have a consumer dispute, as I define that term.
- Sued for breach of an option contract to purchase real property and successfully defended a counterclaim from the seller. Received a complete Plaintiff’s verdict, including attorneys’ fees.
- Successfully represented municipality before the Florida Department of Administrative Hearings in dispute with state agency over statutory compliance.
- Obtained summary judgment for a health insurer in a lawsuit brought by physicians alleging wrongful exclusion from a network and successfully defended the Judgment on appeal to the United States Court of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit.
- Obtained complete payment for $30,000+ medical bills for insured where insurance company completely denied coverage.
- Handled multiple breach of contract claims in state court and arbitration for a real estate investment company who was sued when a builder abandoned a subdivision.
