Debt Collection Lawyers

Debt Collection involves attempts to have a debt paid. Usually, a debt will go to collection once it is ninety days or more past due. Some businesses attempt collection internally, while others hire a debt collection agency. Some law firms generate most of their business working for companies as collection agents. Collection law includes the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a federal law that limits the conduct of a debt collection agency attempting to collect debts. Violation of this law can result in heavy fines that a collection agency definitely wants to avoid. People also hire lawyers to negotiate debt payment on their behalf with a collection agency.
