Full Video Transcript
If you have been detained by or had contact with Immigration, you may be placed into removal proceedings if you are not in a current legal status or if you are a legal permanent resident and have certain criminal convictions. Cancellation of removal is a form of immigration relief available to some individuals placed into removal proceedings. Cancellation of removal for lawful permanent residents is available if the person has been a lawful permanent resident for no less than five years and has resided in the United States for no less than seven years in any status, and has not been convicted of an aggravated felony. Cancellation of Removal for Non-permanent residents is available if the person has continuously resided in the United States for at least ten10 years, has been a person of good moral character, and can establish that their removal would constitute an extreme and unusual hardship to their spouse, parent, or child who is a legal permanent resident or United States citizen.
