If you’ve missed a few mortgage payments, your lender will likely begin calling you and sending you letters to discuss why you have not made your payments. It is important that you talk to your lender – explain your situation and tell them what you’re doing to try to resolve it. After three months of missed payments, you will likely receive a letter from you lender stating the amount delinquent on your loan and that you must pay the total amount past due by a certain date – usually within 30 days. This is usually called a demand Letter or notice to accelerate. If you do not pay the amount due or make special arrangements with your lender by the due date, the lender may begin foreclosure proceedings. If you’ve missed a few mortgage payments, don’t delay. You may still be able to work something out with your lender. The sooner the better. So get the help you need now.
