Child Protective Services

Full Video Transcript

Allegations of child abuse and neglect are taken very seriously by state officials. While every state deals with this issue differently, many react to cases of child abuse through an agency known as Child Protective Services. Child Protective Services investigates reports of abuse and neglect of children, provides services to children and families in their homes, places children in foster care, provides services to children in foster care, and places children in adoptive homes. To be eligible for federal funding, child protective services or other similar state agency must adhere to certain standards and thresholds with regard to the care and treatment of children and families. If you suspect a child is being abused, you should notify your proper state authorities immediately. If you have been accused of child abuse or neglect, it’s important you speak with an attorney in your area.
