Attorney Michael Dawson
Raised in Midland, Texas, Michael grew up in the thick of the oil and gas business. Michael received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Engineering Department at Texas Tech University (May 2000) and received his Juris Doctorate from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M School of Law)(May 2009).
Michael has been involved with nearly all aspects of the oil and gas industry including preparing Oil and Gas Title Opinions including Drilling Opinions, Division Order Title Opinions, Leasehold Opinions, Acquisition Opinions, and other opinions related to oil and gas title matters, negotiating leases, seismic agreements, exploration agreements, drilling contracts, joint operating agreements, participation agreements, oil and gas purchase and sales contracts, natural gas transportation agreements, gas processing agreements, pooling and unitization agreements.
Michael dedicates a good majority of his practice to oil and gas, but he is very versed in nearly all commercial and business law affairs. Additionally, Michael handles dozens of business formations each year and acts as counsel for individuals in their estate planning needs.
Michael was named as a 40-Under-40 Honoree by the Fort Worth Business Press. Michael was selected as as a 2018 Rising Star by Texas Super Lawyers (Thomson Reuters), and he was selected as a Top Attorney in Fort Worth, Texas Magazine for Oil and Gas in 2013 and 2015 through 2018. He is a member of the Midland and Tarrant County Bar Association and their Energy Sections. Michael is licensed to practice law in the States of Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
Michael is a former big brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Texas and currently is a board member of the Midland Habitat for Humanity.
Attorney Greg Springman
Greg Springman has experience in a broad range of the oil and gas industry. Mr. Springman has work experience in positions such as a geophysics technician, geological technician, seismic interpretation technician, computer programmer for upstream accounting software suite, as well as, conducting data processing and analysis of land and scientific information. Mr. Springman started working with Dawson Parrish, PC as a law clerk while in law school. His duties as a law clerk were primarily to conduct due diligence and research for a variety of transactional projects and title opinions. As an Associate of Dawson Parrish, Mr. Springman's practice is centered around transactional and energy law.
Mr. Springman holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University. While attending Oklahoma State University, Mr. Springman was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and active in the local community. Greg holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas A&M University School of Law (formerly Texas Wesleyan University School of Law) having taken and passed the Texas Bar Exam prior to receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence. Mr. Springman is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and the State of Oklahoma.
Attorney Bryan Street
Mr. Street is an Oil and Gas Attorney licensed in both Texas and New Mexico with over a decade of experience in preparing Oil and Gas Title Opinions including Drilling Opinions, Division Order Title Opinions, Leasehold Opinions, Acquisition Opinions, and other opinions related to oil and gas title matters. He has experience in preparing oil and gas related contracts and preparation of Mineral Deeds, Royalty Deeds, and other conveyances of oil and gas related interests. He also has experience in assisting clients with oil and gas related transactions, matters related to Oil and Gas Law, and other questions related to Title law.
Mr. Street started his legal career in Midland – the heart of the Permian Basin, as a title examiner at the Stubbeman law firm in downtown. He lived and worked in Midland almost eight (8) years before making the transition to Fort Worth. During that time, he gained valuable experience (both professional and personal), established numerous friendships, and gained a deep appreciation for the spirit and rugged individualism of the men and women that earn a livelihood in the oil and gas industry. After leaving Midland, he started his own law firm and during that time wore every hat from the janitor to the managing member, with his practice eventually being based in northern Fort Worth. Upon starting as an associate at Dawson Parrish, he made the transition to downtown living in Fort Worth after securing a lease in the Historic Kress Building, about a block away from Sundance Square and two (2) blocks from his office in the Fort Worth Star Telegram building.
Prior to graduating law school at Texas Tech University, Mr. Street acquired a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. During that time, he had internships at BPAmoco Oil Company and The Dow Chemical Company and graduate research positions at both Universities.
Attorney India Sterling Fender
India Fender is an associate with the firm focusing on energy law transactions and negotiations, title examination and due diligence, and commercial transactions and litigation.
India earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alabama where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity. India went on to earn her J.D., magna cum laude, from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2019. While attending law school, India served as articles editor of the Texas Tech Law Review, Treasurer of the Organization of Women Law Students, member of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Society, and received numerous distinction awards in her various courses.
Although India practices mostly in the firm’s Midland office, she was born and raised in Fort Worth and maintains strong ties to the community. She attended Trinity Valley School from kindergarten through 12th grade where she found her love for the law. She began her legal career in Fort Worth, clerking for the Honorable Judge Melody Wilkinson as well as several law firms during law school.
Attorney Stephen Turkett
Stephen “Steve” Turkett was born in Fort Worth and grew up in San Antonio. However, he has lived in the metroplex for many years now. Steve attended law school at the University of Houston Law Center and graduated with honors. Over his 24+ years in practice, he has handled many types of cases in several different areas of law. In recent years his practice has focused on guiding people through the important decisions and transitions of life. Steve focuses on elder law, probate, estate administration, guardianships, special needs planning, and general estate planning. He is also well-versed in business formation and succession planning. He has rendered hundreds of oil and gas title opinions and represents upstream oil and gas players as well as mineral interest owners in a wide variety of oil and gas, real estate, and title matters.
Steve is married and has two sons. He has several family members with special needs, particularly autism (Asperger’s Syndrome), ADHD, and learning differences. He knows full well the challenges families face when planning for their special needs child’s future. Steve serves on the Board of Trustees for Temple Christian School in Fort Worth. He enjoys playing guitar and bass with his church praise team.
