Attorney Kellen Bryant
Kellen Bryant is a partner and co-founder of Berg Bryant Elder Law Group after having spent 7 years building his own practice from scratch. Kellen started his solo practice at 27 years old during the 2009 recession, with no contacts and no prior legal experience in elder law. Kellen has since built a practice that has served over 8,000 families and supports a full office staff to help serve all client needs. Kellen is a Jacksonville, Florida native, having attended Sandalwood High School and his close family still lives in Jacksonville. Like many of his clients, Kellen has been financially on his own since age 18.
Kellen is one of approximately 117 attorneys that the Florida Bar has certified as an expert in elder law. There are approximately 77,000 licensed attorneys in Florida, thus, the board certification makes Kellen uniquely qualified to help caregivers and elderly clients.
Attorney Carla Trinca-Conley
Carla Trinca-Conley joined Berg Bryant Elder Law Group, PLLC in 2016. Carla’s dedication to her clients is based in her passion for servicing the elderly and their loved ones. She is always captivated by an individual’s unique story, and truly loves being able to lend assistance tailored to each and every client.
Carla leads the Berg Bryant legal team on guardianship cases – including guardianships over incapacitated adults, guardian advocacy proceedings for developmentally disabled individuals over 18, and guardianship proceedings of minors with funds received through personal injury actions or inheritance. Carla takes pride in navigating the hurdles and requirements of the Court that each guardian faces.
A strong advocate and believer in philanthropy, Carla volunteers her time to teach the guardianship education training class every three months. This eight-hour course is required for all guardians appointed by the Judges in the Fourth Judicial Circuit (Duval, Clay, and Nassau counties).
Attorney Shelby Habing
Shelby Habing joined the Berg Bryant team in June 2022. In 2013, she graduated from Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, Florida, where she was a student in the International Baccalaureate program. She completed her undergraduate coursework at the University of North Florida (UNF), graduating with a Bachelor of Health Administration in 2017.
Taking several healthcare and law-based classes at UNF, coupled with exposure to challenges her grandparents were facing, instilled in Shelby a desire to help others understand and appreciate the importance of proper planning for aging and changing healthcare needs.
In 2018, with the encouragement and support of family and friends, she began her legal studies at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida. During her career at Stetson, she thoroughly enjoyed estate planning classes and was involved in the Thomas E. Penick, Jr. American Inn of Court, the Elder Law Society, and was an extern in the guardianship division of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She also met her husband, Craig, at Stetson, and together they enjoyed participating in intramural soccer and running club after school. Shelby earned her Juris Doctor in May 2021 and became a licensed Florida attorney the following October.
Attorney Madeline Franson
Madeline earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the Florida State University (Go Noles!) and her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, where she graduated cum laude. Following in her grandfather (Stetson Law Class of ’58) and her father (Stetson Law Class of ’97)’s footsteps, Madeline is proud to return home and join the Jacksonville legal community.
During her time in law school, Madeline spent a semester as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Judge Anthony E. Porcelli in the Middle District of Florida. The opportunity to observe the inner workings of a Federal courtroom taught Madeline the decorum and professionalism required of an attorney. As a Constitutional Law Teaching Assistant, Madeline learned how to synthesize complicated concepts and communicate ideas clearly.
Madeline is a planner by nature, and is passionate about helping clients of all ages plan for the future. She takes great pride in her attention to detail, punctuality, and professionalism. One of Madeline’s favorite things about the legal profession is the opportunity to listen to client’s personal and unique stories and assist them in coming up with individually tailored situations to their needs.
