What To Do When You've Been Injured At Work
Full Video Transcript
If you are injured on the job, you first need to notify your boss and HR department immediately and seek medical help. The workers’ compensation system can sometimes be complicated, and you may need to see your employer’s physician, or sometimes you can go to your own doctor. Ask your HR department about this. Once you’ve received medical attention, you will need to fill out a workers’ compensation claim form detailing when, where, and how the accident happened; the extent of the injuries; and the costs for your treatment. If the claim is accepted, you will be notified about your benefit payments. On the other hand, if your claim is rejected or partially denied, you can appeal the decision. You do have the right to be represented by an attorney during the process. If you’ve had a serious injury, or your claim has been denied, contact a workers compensation attorney in your area today.
