Full Video Transcript
Nursing homes are heavily regulated by state and federal law in order to protect the residents. For example, nursing home residents are entitled to know their medical condition and to participate in making decisions regarding their medical treatment. Residents are entitled to understand the services being offered by the nursing home and the fees charged for those services. Also, cleanliness and safety standards must be followed in accordance with applicable laws. Perhaps most importantly, nursing home residents have a right not to be abused in any way, including not being physically, sexually, mentally or otherwise abused. There are many other regulatory standards in effect as well, which basically entitle nursing home residents to be treated with respect. If you or a loved one is faced with possible nursing home neglect, talk to an experienced lawyer to determine what legal options may be available in your situation.
