What Is a Paralegal?

Full Video Transcript

Paralegals are professionally trained and are hired at many law firms to assist attorneys with a wide variety of responsibilities. Many paralegals conduct case research, manage cases, and assist with clients. Clients often meet with paralegals in addition to their attorneys when necessary, as a paralegal must abide by the same attorney-client confidentiality and is qualified to handle many client questions and issues. Although paralegals are required to meet certain educational criteria, they must be supervised by an attorney and must abide by limitations.
