A verdict is a formal finding or decision by a jury at the end of the trial.  In a civil trial there are different types a verdicts that a jury could be required to provide.  For instance, a general verdict is when a jury comes to a single conclusion based on all the facts and issues presented in a trial. For example, we find for the plaintiff in the amount of $100,000.  A special verdict on the other hand requires that the jury submit written findings on a series of issues in the case, typically presented in the form of questions.
