Implied Consent Laws
Full Video Transcript
While the particular law varies by state, implied consent laws generally mean that when you get the privilege of a driver’s license, you automatically consent to blood alcohol or other testing if suspected of driving under the influence. Accordingly, police can ask you to submit to a blood, breath, or urine test if pulled over for a DUI. Under the implied consent laws, every driver is deemed to have already consented to such tests. Refusal to take the test may result in criminal penalties.
