Can I Refuse To Take A Field Sobriety Test

Full Video Transcript

If you’ve had a few drinks, it’s never a good idea to get behind the wheel and drive. You not only risk your own life, but those around you as well. If you do drive drunk, there’s a good chance you will get caught by police and, depending on your level of intoxication and where you live, a field sobriety test may be administered. Although the officer may offer the test in such a way that it feels mandatory, a field sobriety test is generally optional. You have the right to be taken into custody and submit to a chemical test. If you have been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, contact an experienced attorney immediately. Depending on the events that lead to your arrest, a skilled attorney can make a big difference towards the outcome of your particular case.
