Prozac Warnings

Full Video Transcript

Since 2005 the federal government has issued alerts warning against the serious side effects associated with taking the drug Prozac. Prozac’s manufacturer, Eli Lilly & Company, is required by the United States Food and Drug Administration to warn patients of the potential risks of taking the drug, which include suicide thoughts and behaviors and serious birth defects. Although many SSRI drugs already contain FDA black box warnings, Prozac injury lawyers say those warnings simply aren’t sufficient and that the manufacturer has fallen short when it comes to adequately warning those who take it. Many injuries potentially could have been avoided if the manufacturer had done more to warn about the increased risks of serious side effects associated with Prozac. As an outcome of increased accusations and litigation, Prozac can no longer advertise that it has minimal side effects.
