Stalking is a term commonly used to mean that someone is following you in an annoying way. However, stalking is also a crime. It can include physical stalking, cyber stalking over the Internet, workplace stalking, and other kinds of harassment, which put the victim in fear for their safety. Its surprising how prevalent it is – some reports indicate that around 3.4 million adult Americans are stalked each year in the United States. Stalking is a serious crime and can be charged as a misdemeanor or felony depending on the circumstances and state laws. Penalties may include hefty fines and even prison time.
