The basic rule for advertising is that you must tell the truth and avoid misleading customers. And whenever you make claims about your product or service, for example, that it was voted best in its class, or preferred two-to-one, or whatever your slogan calls for, make sure that you have the evidence to back up your claim. Also, if you use any disclaimers, make sure you are clear. The customer should easily understand what your product or service can and cannot do. If you offer refunds for dissatisfied customers, then you have to provide the refunds as promised. Finally, certain industries or products have special advertising rules.
