Lawyer-Supported Mediation
Full Video Transcript
Lawyer-supported mediation is an alternative to traditional court, which is used to resolve disputes between two or more parties. By integrating legal advice from a facilitator or mediator, the parties are able to review all of their legal options and make an informed decision. The idea behind this form of mediation is for the parties to come to a mutual agreement that is then reviewed by an attorney, and the agreement is made legally binding. If the parties are unable to come to an agreement, either fully or partially, the parties may then pursue formal litigation. Mediation is becoming more common for parties in various legal disputes, especially in family law situations, due to its informal nature and low expense compared to traditional litigation.
