Thousands of children are adopted every year, and many of the children adopted are from a different country than their adoptive parents. Hague Adoption Convention applies to the United States and all other affiliated countries. The Hague Adoption Convention established safeguards and procedures for intercountry adoptions, to protect both prospective adoptive parents and children.
