I have been practicing law since May 1999. In fact, I pushed ahead at law school and passed the Texas bar exam prior to graduating from Texas Wesleyan School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas. I worked for a few different law firms before starting my own practice in 2005. At these firms, I worked on family law, eminent domain, Chapter 11 bankruptcy, motor vehicle accidents, and real estate matters. Since opening my own office, I have added probate and consumer work and dropped all bankruptcy representations.
I have organized my office to “grow” my own associate attorneys. I hire second year law students and train them through graduation and the bar, with the idea that they will remain on afterwards as associate attorneys. This has been successful on 5 occasions, and the training continues to this day.
While we do transactional work (such as wills, trusts, and deeds) our emphasis is on litigation. My central question prior to accepting any litigation matter is: can I achieve a positive outcome for my client and what are the impediments to that outcome. Accordingly, not all cases are accepted, although we will provide a consult and explain the reasons we cannot accept the case. My staff and I put the profession of law over the business of law. The needs of our clients are our primary concern. We understand the needs of clients facing these sensitive/serious issues. Our goal is to help our clients navigate through some of life’s most difficult challenges.
