Attorney Thomas Kranidas

I was not one of the lucky people who know from a very early age exactly what they want to be when they grow up. Through the process of maturing, working and going to college, I knew that I had a keen interest in making people’s lives better, but was not really sure how.

After I graduated from college, I worked for two years in a wholesale warehouse. I worked with people from many different backgrounds and learned a lot about real life problems. I decided that becoming a lawyer would be a way to use my abilities in a meaningful and fulfilling way. During law school, I worked as a paralegal in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office. After graduation, I was appointed an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County.

After four years as an ADA I joined a small practice in Brooklyn and did extensive court appointed criminal defense for those who could not afford private counsel. After some years in Brooklyn, my family life took me out to Denver, Colorado where I practiced law for fifteen years, including family law, consumer bankruptcy, personal injury and general practice. Moving back to New York after many years away, I worked for four years at a personal injury firm in Brooklyn, while also doing some general practice work for the firm.

Finding a position at Sobo & Sobo has been a great opportunity for me to focus on personal injury cases and work one on one with my clients. With the excellent help of dedicated paralegals, I focus on each client and strive to give them the highest level of personal attention. For me, each client’s case is a unique and special journey. My greatest satisfaction is achieving the best result for my client.

I have worked as a farm hand in Wisconsin, a field picker in Pennsylvania, a landscaper, cook, greenhouse worker, painter and construction. I know how hard it is to work in hard conditions and the injuries that arise out of a work life. Often, only an attorney can protect the worker against an owner and corporation.

I tried the Fodelmesi vs. Schepperly case 133 F. 3d 907 (C.A.2 NY) before Judge Rakoff for the Village of Fishkill. After successfully defending the Village, I had the honor of presenting oral argument before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Growing up, I was always interested in helping others. That, coupled with my love for the ever-changing nature of law, made pursuing a legal career an easy choice. I attended Pace University for undergraduate school. I majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Psychology. While at Pace University I was a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority and the Criminal Justice Society. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in 2014. Following college, I was interested in pursuing a career in the law. I went back to Pace University to obtain my paralegal certificate, which was obtained in March 2015.

I began working at Sobo & Sobo as a paralegal in July of 2015. I was beyond excited to interact with clients and help them with the truly difficult situations that they have been unfortunately placed into. My passion for the law grew in my time as a paralegal, so much that I applied to law school.

I went on to attend Pace University School of Law. While in law school, I was part of the Mock Trial team dealing specifically with civil law.
