Attorney Sara A. Swanson
Sara A. Swanson obtained her law degree from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in May 2008 and began practice at Thomason Law Office after being admitted to the bar in October 2008. She has focused her practice primarily in the areas of Real Estate, Estate Planning, Small Business Formation, and Elder law.
Sara grew up in Park Rapids, MN and holds degrees in Theology and Music from the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University. She is married with three daughters and actively involved in the Park Rapids community.
Attorney Roger A. Zahn
Roger A. Zahn obtained his law degree, cum laude, from William Mitchell College of law in 1980. Before joining Thomason, Swanson & Zahn, PLLC, on June 1, 2011, he practiced law in the Twin Cities. Roger focuses his practice on Life Care planning, Elder Law, Estate Planning, and Real Estate. Roger has additional expertise with small and medium size business development and extensive experience in the hotel and hospitality industries. Roger is married, has two adult children, is active in the community and loves golf.
Attorney Trent R. Wilcox
Trent R. Wilcox practices in the areas of Family Law, Guardianship, Personal Injury, Employment Disputes and General Civil Litigation. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Minnesota, along with the Arizona state and federal courts.
As an extension of his family law practice, Trent worked closely in the past with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to return abducted children to the custodial parent; he assisted parents from Honduras, Great Britain, Lebanon, Mexico and other countries in cases brought under The Hague Convention of Oct. 25, 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. He is committed to protecting children who have been wrongfully abducted from their home countries. He received the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Award of Merit in recognition and appreciation for outstanding commitment to the protection of children and knowledge of the Hague Convention and international child abduction issues.
Trent was originally admitted to practice law in Arizona in 1995 and recently returned to northern Minnesota to continue his legal practice. In his spare time, his interests include fishing, motorcycling and snowmobiling. In addition, he still plays golf regularly, although certainly not to the level he formerly did while playing professionally.
Attorney Matthew L. Enger
Matthew L. Enger earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, MN, graduating cum laude in May of 2014. After previously working with Thomason, Swanson & Zahn as a law clerk for two summers, Matt was admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 2014 and joined the firm as an associate attorney. Matt has quickly gained a large amount of courtroom experience, particularly in his primary practice areas of divorce, child custody, and civil litigation. Matt also handles matters in the areas of landlord/tenant, collections, criminal defense, child protection, civil commitments, guardianships, business formation, and estate planning.
Matt is a 2011 graduate of Concordia College/Moorhead, where he double-majored in Political Science and History. He grew up on a farm near Madison, MN and currently lives in Detroit Lakes with his wife and three children. Matt continues to play for his home town’s amateur baseball team. In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with family at his wife’s cabin on Potato Lake.
Attorney Zachary H. Johnson
Zachary Johnson is a versatile litigator with a wealth of experience in criminal and civil practice derived from his employment at some of the nation’s top legal institutions. He specializes primarily in criminal defense and civil litigation.
Zack graduated with honors from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, PA where he served as a staff editor on the Temple Law Review and received the school’s Barrister Award in Trial Advocacy and the Lynne M. Abraham (Philadelphia District Attorney) award for outstanding performance in Criminal Law and Professional Responsibility.
Zack began his legal career serving as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City where he authored numerous briefs submitted to appellate courts and served as a trial attorney where he acted as lead prosecutor in numerous felony and misdemeanor jury trials, grand jury presentations, and evidentiary and suppression hearings. He left the D.A.’s office in 2006 to join the litigation group at Shearman & Sterling LLP where he worked on a variety of civil litigation matters. More recently, he had been handling civil and criminal matters at a smaller New York firm. Zack has since returned to his native Minnesota and is very excited to bring his knowledge and experience to clients in the lakes area.
