Attorney Nancy F. Baskin
Attorney Nancy Baskin brings over twenty-five years of experience in the field of family law to her clients’ cases. She graduated from Dartmouth College cum laude in 1981 and, after spending a year working for the United States Senate, attended New York University School of Law, from which she received her J.D. in 1985. While at law school, Ms. Baskin served as a member of the editorial staff and then an editor of the New York University Law Review. She is the author of an article entitled “Widgery v. United States: Probable Acquittal,” 59 New York University Law Review 1285, 1984. After two years of practicing commercial real estate in a large law firm in Manhattan, Ms. Baskin began exclusively practicing domestic relations law in 1988, first at the premier Manhattan divorce law firm now known as Aronson, Mayefsky & Sloan, LLP for approximately five years and then, upon relocating to Boston in 1993, with a Boston domestic relations firm for five years. After practicing in the domestic relations department of a large law firm for over two years, Ms. Baskin opened her own practice in Boston in March 2001. Ms. Baskin’s firm has since grown to four attorneys, all exclusively practicing domestic relations law. She is widely regarded as a preeminent practitioner in the field of family law.
Ms. Baskin has been appointed by the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court as a Discovery Master and as a Guardian ad Litem and is a volunteer for the Probate and Family Court Lawyer for the Day program. She is trained in collaborative law, and practices both litigation and mediation. She has served as a mediator and a conciliator in divorce cases at the request of other Boston family law attorneys. Ms. Baskin is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut and is a member of the Boston Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, and Women’s Bar Association.
Attorney Jordana S. Kershner
Attorney Jordana Kershner graduated from Tulane University in 2005 cum laude and, after interning in Congress and working as a litigation paralegal at the Washington D.C. firm now known as Cohen, Milstein, Sellers & Toll, PLLC, went on to receive her J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 2011 cum laude. While at Boston University, Ms. Kershner was the Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Law & Medicine and interned at the Special Litigation Department of the Connecticut Office of the Attorney General, as well as for the Honorable Dominic J. Squatrito, District Court Judge for the District of Connecticut. In 2012, after a fellowship with Shelter Legal Services, Ms. Kershner joined Baskin & Associates, LLC, which became Baskin Kershner & Thorp, LLC in 2019. She has been exclusively representing clients in all areas of family law throughout her career.
Ms. Kershner is a certified conciliator. She is also a Co-Chair of the Communications Committee and member of the Steering Committee for the Family Law Section of the Boston Bar Association. Through her involvement with the Boston Bar Association, Ms. Kershner has authored articles for the Family Law Section Newsletter. She is also a volunteer for the Probate and Family Court Lawyer for the Day and SERV programs. Ms. Kershner is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and a member of the Boston Bar Association, Middlesex County Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association, and Greater Boston Family Law Inn of Court.
Attorney Meghan C. Thorp
Attorney Meghan Thorp graduated from Ithaca College in 2004 cum laude and went on to receive her J.D. from New England School of Law (now New England Law Boston) in 2007. While at New England School of Law, Ms. Thorp was a member of the Women’s Law Caucus and the Children and the Law Society, and she volunteered as a mentor to other students. During law school, Ms. Thorp also interned at the Committee for Public Counsel Services in the Children and Family Law Program and at a well-known Metrowest law firm, where she focused on domestic relations law and practiced for over six years after graduating from law school. In 2013, Ms. Thorp joined Baskin & Associates, LLC, which became Baskin Kershner & Thorp, LLC in 2019, where she represents clients in all areas of family law. Ms. Thorp also provides mediation services, including attorney-assisted mediation, as an alternative to litigation.
Ms. Thorp has been appointed by the Probate and Family Court to serve as Guardian ad Litem, Special Purpose Guardian ad Litem, Discovery Master, and attorney for children. She is a volunteer for Probate and Family Court Lawyer for the Day and the Attorneys Representing Children (ARC) programs. She authored the article “Understanding the Patient-Psychotherapist Privilege,” which was published in the Boston Bar Association’s Winter 2019 Family Law Newsletter and has co-chaired and served on panels of various CLE programs. Ms. Thorp is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and is a member of the Massachusetts Family and Probate American Inn of Court, Boston Bar Association, Greater Boston Family Law Inn of Court, Massachusetts Bar Association, and Women’s Bar Association. She is also on the planning committee for the Women’s Bar Association’s annual Gala.
