Attorney Geraldine P. McEvoy
Founding partner Geraldine (“Geri”) P. McEvoy focuses her practice on all areas of domestic relations. She has been involved in the legal industry for over 21 years, beginning with her undergraduate work at Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where she earned a BA degree in paralegal studies and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She went on to earn at JD degree from Suffolk University Law School.
Admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and United States Supreme Court, Geri is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Middlesex Bar Association, Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers, Massachusetts Association of Guardians Ad Litem, and the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation. She is a certified mediator, Guardian Ad Litem, discovery master, special master and conciliator, and a founding member of the Attorneys Representing Children (ARC) Program in the Middlesex County Probate & Family Court.
As an experienced litigator, Geri prides herself on her compassionate approach to guiding clients through the litigation maze. She focuses on demystifying the process, empowering the client, de-escalating animosity and polarization between the parties, and concentrating on issues that impact the outcome.
While Geri’s work often involves representing clients in contentious, contested litigation, she does not shy away from negotiations and settlement. As a certified mediator and a volunteer conciliator for the Middlesex Probate & Family Court, she has assisted countless parties in reaching complete resolution of their legal issues. Her professionalism and expertise in reaching settlements is widely admired and she trains colleagues as conciliators through the Boston Bar Association. Geri prides herself on finding creative solutions and bringing the parties to a middle ground – especially when the parties believe their issues are insoluble.
Often praised for her fair and ethical approach to each case, Geri has a reputation for successfully resolving difficult and emotionally charged cases. She believes that logic, rationality, and common sense play important roles in every legal issue.
Known for her personal warmth and sense of humor, Geri bonds easily with co-workers, colleagues, and clients who appreciate her reputation as a straight shooter who strives to set realistic expectations and proposes viable settlement options.
Attorney Karen W. Stuntz
Attorney Karen W. Stuntz is a founding partner of McEvoy & Stuntz, LLP, a Concord law firm specializing in all areas of domestic relations. Karen’s practice is focused on complex custody disputes and high asset property division. An experienced litigator and passionate about trial work, she has taken a significant amount of domestic relation cases to trial in Middlesex, Norfolk, Barnstable, Essex, and Worcester Counties, and has handled numerous appellate matters.
Karen enjoys positive rapport with judges, attorneys, court 2015 Premier 100 Seal AATA personnel, and clients. Her strong interpersonal skills allow her to negotiate fervently and reach settlements that serve her clients’ best interests. When a settlement is simply not possible, Karen will aggressively advocate for her clients at all levels of contested litigation.
Karen has an outstanding record of success arguing contested motions and conducting multi-day trials where numerous issues are contested. In addition, she is a formidable opponent at the appellate level, with strong skills in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy.
An alumna of Union College, Karen earned a BA degree in political science and graduated with departmental honors. She attended Suffolk University Law School and is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and the United States Supreme Court. Karen is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Middlesex County Bar Association, Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers, and Massachusetts Association of Guardian ad Litems. Karen is also a volunteer member of the Middlesex Probate & Family Court conciliation program, and she serves as a volunteer attorney-coach for the Acton-Boxboro High School Mock Trial Team.
2012-2015, Karen was named a Massachusetts Rising Star by the Super Lawyers Rating Service.
Karen has received the 2015 Premier 100 Designation Award by the AATA (Attorney American Academy of Trial Attorneys).
