Attorney Diane P. Perez
As a native of Florida, born in Hialeah and raised in Hollywood, Diane P. Perez understands the dynamics of the state, especially the residents and companies she serves throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties. As a second-generation Cuban-American, the law firm she put her name to, Diane Perez, P.A., focuses on employment law litigation and counseling and represents both employers and employees in federal and state courts and before federal, state and local agencies.
Ms. Perez served as an Associate Editor for the University of Miami International and Comparative Law Review while earning her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. Before opening her firm, she gained practical experience in the field of employment law during her tenure with three national labor and employment law firms, exclusively representing management in a variety of labor and employment law matters. She also taught on employment-related issues before the Florida Institute of CPAs and the Cuban-American CPAs Association. She has spoken at the ABA's Mid-Year meeting on equal pay and on hiring, firing and disciplining for The Seminar Group. She has also spoken to the Dade County Bar Association on other labor and employment law matters.
Ms. Perez has authored and co-authored various articles, including on FLSA class-action lawsuits, revisions to Florida's unemployment compensation benefits law, and the National Labor Relations Act. Ms. Perez also published an article on pregnancy discrimination under The Florida Civil Rights Act for the Dade County Bar Association's "Bulletin."
Ms. Perez is admitted to practice law by the Florida Bar and before the United States District Court for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. She is a Florida Bar Board Certified Labor and Employment Law Specialist. Ms. Perez serves as the current President of the Coral Gables Bar Association is also a member of the Cuban American Bar Association and the Dade County Bar Association. In addition, she has served on the Board of Directors of the Coral Gables Bar Association since September 2012, serving as Secretary in 2013 and Treasurer in 2015 and is a former Editor-in-Chief of the Cuban American Bar Association's quarterly magazine, "CABA Briefs."
