Attorney Joseph M. Morrill
Joe Morrill is the founder of Morrill Law. With more than 20 years of experience as a litigator, he focuses on cases involving will and trust disputes, financial elder abuse, fraud, conservatorships, and related claims. He represents private professional fiduciaries, trustees, executors, agents under durable powers of attorney, conservators, and other fiduciaries, trust beneficiaries, heirs, nursing homes, elders, and the family members or friends of elders.
Joe’s extensive trial experience includes both bench and jury trials. He has obtained multiple defense verdicts representing trustees against actions contesting trusts alleging lack of capacity, undue influence, breach of fiduciary duty, fiduciary accountings, and financial elder abuse. He has obtained jury and bench verdicts, judgments, and elder abuse writs of attachment representing beneficiaries, elders, and other interested persons. Joe routinely appears for hearings and motions, and is well-versed in all aspects of discovery, including expert witnesses.
A certified mediator, Joe has substantial experience in settlement negotiation and mediation, and serves on the Contra Costa Superior Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel of Neutrals.
Attorney G. Jeff Coons
G. Jeff Coons is a Partner with Morrill Law and practices in the area of trust and estate litigation. Mr. Coons represents beneficiaries and fiduciaries in disputes involving will and trust contests, elder abuse, contested powers of attorney, and related issues. Prior to joining Morrill Law, Mr. Coons practiced for more than 17 years at national and regional law firms where he represented clients in complex civil litigation matters involving personal injury, toxic tort, environmental, and asbestos cases. As a research analyst for PricewaterhouseCoopers, he advised Fortune 500 telecommunications companies on regulatory issues and merger and acquisition opportunities. Mr. Coons is a former senior consultant to internet and business systems concerns that advised global energy and telecommunications corporations.
Attorney Ariana Flynn
Ariana Flynn practices in the areas of trust and estate administration and litigation, and probate matters.
While in law school, Ariana was an Executive Editor for the Hastings Science and Technology Law Journal and a Senior Student Associate for the UC San Francisco/UC Hastings Medical Legal Partnership for Seniors Clinic. She was a member of the Hastings Health Law Moot Court Team and the Internal Vice President of the Women’s Law Society.
Attorney Kayla Liu
Kayla Liu focuses her practice in the areas of trust and estate administration and litigation, elder abuse, and probate matters. Prior to joining Morrill Law, Kayla was an associate attorney at a civil litigation firm focused primarily on insurance defense and personal injury.
During law school, Kayla participated in UCSF/UC Hastings Medical-Legal Partnership for Seniors Clinic. She served as President of the Asian-Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA) and Vice President of the Pilipino American Law Society (PALS); and was the recipient of the 2018-2019 Student Leader of the Year Award. Kayla served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Andrew Y.S. Cheng at the San Francisco Superior Court.
Attorney Mia Polo
Mia Polo practices in the areas of trust and estate administration and litigation, elder abuse, and probate matters. Prior to joining Morrill Law, Mia was a Legal Intern for the National Association of Home Builders Office of Legal Affairs and was an Alternative Dispute Resolution Intern for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Appeals Board. She also served as a Student Intern for the City of Pittsburgh Mayor’s Office.
While in law school, Mia was a published member of the George Washington Journal of Energy & Environmental Law. Her article, “Avoiding Disaster: Drilling into NEPA Requirements in the Face of Arctic Development” was published in the Journal’s February 2021 Volume 11 issue.
Attorney Vahishta Falahati
Vahishta Falahati is Of Counsel to Morrill Law. Vahishta focuses her practice in real estate law and represents clients in both transactional and litigation matters. She has broad experience advising individuals and business entities on formal litigation matters, as well as effectively and efficiently negotiating settlements and dismissals.
Vahishta’s clients include real estate professionals, landlords, tenants, title insurers, escrow holders, institutional lenders, and business entities and owners. She represents individuals and institutional clients in matters involving real estate, complex toxic tort liability, premises liability, construction defect, insurance defense, and general personal injury. Vahishta has held a California Real Estate Broker’s License since 2005.
