Attorney John T. (Tommy) Kirk handles only DUI and other alcohol related offenses, although he has a wealth of experience and expertise in all aspects of criminal law.
He was born in Montgomery, Alabama. Mr. Kirk attended Huntingdon College, in Montgomery, graduating in 1966 with his Bachelor of Science degree. He pursued his legal education at the Jones Law Institute, where he earned his L.L.B. degree, graduating in 1971.
After successfully completing the State Bar Examination, he was admitted to the State Bar of Alabama in 1972.
He served as Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Montgomery from 1973 to 1980, but since then has devoted his energies to criminal defense law. In 1988, for his service to criminal defense as President of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Tommy was awarded its highest honor, the Roderick Beddow, Sr. Award.
Today, Mr. Kirk limits his practice exclusively to DUI offenses and related charges, including DUI manslaughter and DUI murder. He is a nationally recognized expert in the field.
A Founding Member of the National College for DUI Defense, Inc., Mr. Kirk has served that institution as Dean and as a member of its governing body, the Board of Regents. He remains an active member of the NCDD Board and is much in demand as a speaker and lecturer across the nation on the subject of DUI defense. He has appeared as a guest speaker at seminars in 16 states since 1997, and his publications are widely read among DUI defense lawyers.
Attorney Matthew B. Alfreds is a 1999 graduate of Auburn University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He attended Jones School of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctor degree in 2005.
Later that year, after successfully completing the State Bar Examination, Mr. Alfreds was admitted to the State Bar of Alabama.
He is a member of the National College for DUI Defense, Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association.
