When you hire a professional to help manage your investments, that person will usually spend considerable time with you to find out what type of person you are, how much money you have, and what level of risk you’re willing and able to tolerate. Furthermore, many investment firms restrict their brokers from recommending investments that have not been approved by the firm. Unfortunately, some of these professionals don’t obey these guidelines and have been known to push investments that are either not appropriate for their clients or are not recommended by the firm. If this happens, and the client suffers a severe economic loss as a result, that client may have a legal action against their broker for stock fraud, and may be able to recover their losses.
