The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors law, known as the DREAM Act, is legislation that potentially could be a pathway toward citizenship. The DREAM Act was first introduced in 2001 but none of the versions introduced since have passed. If passed, the DREAM Act would give young adults legal status while they pursue their education or enlist in the military. It is estimated that around hundreds of thousands of young immigrants would benefit from this Act.
