The P visa is a temporary employment visa that allows internationally recognized athletes, artists, and entertainers entry into the U.S. Athletes may come to participate in individual events, competitions, or performances, and members of entertainment groups are able to come and perform so long as the group is internationally recognized. Individual entertainers not performing as part of a group are not eligible for this visa classification. Beneficiaries of this type of visa are permitted to stay for the length of time needed to complete the events, competitions, or performances for which they are scheduled, but this period of stay may not exceed one year.
