There are times when children placed in temporary foster custody are abused, neglected or abandoned by their foster parents. These children are moved by a state agency to a safer environment. They are usually placed with foster parents known to have a safe home. If you know of a child who has been abused, neglected or injured by foster parents, report the abuse to the authorities immediately. Relatives, of the abused child, and in some cases concerned parties, have the right to bring a lawsuit on behalf of the child. If the child incurred any medical expenses because of the abuse, or, if the injuries will create future medical expenses, the child may be entitled to compensation.
