How To Meet With Your Estate Planning Attorney

Even if you don’t have substantial assets, meeting with an estate planning attorney to create a solid plan for your future and is an important step we should all take at some point in order to make sure we protect our loved ones. Before you meet with your estate planning attorney, make sure you have the following documents and information organized in order to make the most of your consultation. First, organize all of your assets with documentation including any mortgages, investment portfolios, bank accounts, and whatever else you own of value. Next, if you already have an estate plan, bring that with you. Finally, try to determine your needs from the attorney. Do you need asset protection help, general advice, a power of attorney, a living will, a trust, or something else? Remember, anything you tell your attorney is confidential so make sure you disclose all matters even remotely related to your case.
