Infuse Bone Graft

Infuse bone graft can be used to treat a condition called degenerative disc disease. It provides an alternative to today’s patients by eliminating the pain and complications associated with harvesting bone from their hip. In 2002 the FDA granted Medtronic approval for its Infuse Bone Graft but for limited use in the lumbar spine and lower back and for some oral and dental procedures. Medtronic, however, allegedly encouraged physicians to use its Infuse bone stimulator off-label in the cervical spine. Such use while not approved by the FDA helped generate sales of over $3 billion for Medtronic but produced devastating effects to the users.
