Benicar is a medication prescribed to treat high blood pressure in patients. While effective, the medication has been linked to possibly causing a severe gastrointestinal condition known as sprue-like enteropathy, which may resemble celiac disease in its symptoms. Benicar’s side effects can include diarrhea, vomiting, extreme weight loss, dehydration, and even cardiovascular problems. In July of 2013, the FDA issued a warning to the public expressing the risk of these side effects to the public, and also approved an updated drug warning label. If you or a loved one was prescribed Benicar and developed serious side effects you may be able to file a lawsuit to recover for your pain and suffering. Speak to an experienced Benicar attorney today to discuss your legal options.
