Avandia is a drug manufactured by Glaxo Smith Kline and approved by the FDA in 1997 for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately, this drug has been shown to possibly cause fluid retention in the body, which may lead to heart attacks and strokes. As a result, the FDA has over the years restricted who is eligible to receive the drug, and has also updated the drug warnings labels to notify users of the risks.
