Actos Lawsuits

Full Video Transcript

Normally when we take prescribed medications we expect them to be reasonably safe with respect to the warning labels provided on the packaging. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. As of June 2011, Actos is a prescription medication manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceuticals used to treat Type II Diabetes. Some modern studies have shown an increased risk of congestive heart failure, kidney cancer, and weakened bones in patients taking Actos. Under product liability law, if a patient takes a drug without first being advised of all the risks, and then later develops an illness or dies as the result of taking the drug, the patient or family may be able to bring a lawsuit against the drug manufacturer. In this case, patients who took Actos and developed a heart disorder, kidney cancer, or suffered from weakened bones may be entitled to compensation for their injuries.
