What Is A Class Action Lawsuit

Full Video Transcript

A class action lawsuit is a lawsuit that is filed on behalf of a group of people who have all, in a similar way, been injured by the actions of a defendant. A typical class action involves hundreds or even thousands of people whose individual actions have common claims that are relatively small in nature. Due to the small claim size, an individual lawsuit would not be cost-effective and it could mean placing justice out of reach for many people. By putting the hundreds or thousands of claims together in one lawsuit, all injured parties have the opportunity to potentially receive some compensation for their injuries.
