Dissolution is the act of terminating or dissolving a business partnership or corporation. By dissolving the business, the entity that previously existed becomes terminated. There are a variety of reasons a dissolution occurs. A state statute may require dissolution, also, the surrender or expiration of a charter may cause dissolution of a business. Furthermore, legal proceedings or bankruptcy may force the business to dissolve.
