What is the potential liability in a medical malpractice case in Washington D.C.?

Washington D.C. does not place any caps on medical malpractice damages. Therefore, if a plaintiff proves his case and a defendant is found guilty of medical malpractice then a jury can award reasonable damages to the plaintiff for his injuries, loss of income, emotional pain and suffering and for punitive damages against the defendant.
