When a complainant alleges that a doctor has violated the applicable law, the Board of Medicine will investigate the allegations. The doctor will be informed that the complaint has been filed and will be provided with the opportunity to defend him or herself against the allegations. The Board of Medicine will then make a decision about whether the doctor should be disciplined or whether the case should be dismissed.
