What Public Notice Requirements are There for a Real Estate Foreclosure in Wisconsin?
A lender may file a lawsuit in Wisconsin state court in order to foreclose upon the property. The court will set the public notice requirements that will be required in addition to the lawsuit’s filing.
If the loan documents permit a lender to proceed without court involvement then the lender must follow the public notice requirements set forth in the agreement. If the agreement is silent as to public notice then the lender must, record the Notice of Sale with the county office responsible for recording land records and publish the Notice of Sale weekly for six weeks in the county newspaper.
