What Public Notice Requirements are There for a Real Estate Foreclosure in New Jersey?
All New Jersey property foreclosures occur through the superior court in the county where the property is located. A lender must file a lis pendens that notifies the public of the pending lawsuit. Further, a Notice of Sale must be posted in all county offices and on the property itself. The Notice of Sale must also be published in two local newspapers. State law requires that at least one of those newspapers be in the county seat or largest city of the county where the property is located.
