What Public Notice Requirements are There for a Real Estate Foreclosure in Maine?

Public notice is only required in a foreclosure of Maine property if the foreclosure is going to occur by sale. The terms and conditions of the foreclosure sale are set by the court. However, Maine law specifies that public notice must be provided in the local newspaper. The Notice of Sale must be published weekly for three consecutive weeks. The foreclosure sale must occur between 30 and 45 days after the date of the first publication of the Notice of Sale.
