What is Lipitor?

Lipitor, also known as atorvastatin, is a hypolipidemic drug manufactured by Pfizer that helps control high cholesterol.  The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)  approved Lipitor in December of 1996 and it was a financial success for Pfizer.  It earned nearly $13 billion annually.
