What are the requirements to be eligible to vote in Alabama state and local elections?

In order to vote under Alabama law, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least eighteen (18) years of age, and a resident of Alabama. You cannot register to vote in the state of Alabama if you have been convicted of a disqualifying felony, unless you have had your rights restored. You also are ineligible to register to vote if you have been declared to be mentally incompetent by a court.
