Are Mediators All The Same?
Mediation may differ depending upon the mediator selected. Some mediators view their roles as passive; responsible for assisting the parties negotiate their own resolution of their disputes. Others take a more active role. Some mediators provide evaluations of each parties` position, some view their roles as assisting the parties to determine their genuine interests and to understand the other parties` genuine interests, so that rational settlement proposals can then be generated and exchanged.
