Attorney Joseph F. Brophy
With 27 years of substantial transactional and litigation experience, Joseph F. Brophy has taken his diverse clientele from the boardroom to the courtroom in virtually all civil lawsuits as lead counsel. This includes, without limitations: contract and fraud, fiduciary duty, real estate, construction, securities, directors and officer's liability, professional malpractice, energy, insurance, personal injury, unfair competition, intellectual property and trade secrets.
His diverse clientele includes individuals, small and large businesses, former senior government officials, law professors, local and national businesses, an owner of the NFL franchise, construction companies, franchisors and franchisees, and business executives.
Before Brophy & Bland, PLLC, he was an equity partner in two high profile Austin law firms and has served as General Counsel to holding companies in the commercial real estate development and financial advisory industries.
Attorney Haley Devaney
Ms. Devaney devoted her legal career to represent clients in complex business litigation, commercial litigation, and general civil litigation. Ms. Devaney's practice areas also encompass, without limitations: employment matters, securities disputes, contract and fraud disputes, professional malpractice, construction law, financial services, and transactional matters. She has litigated in state courts throughout Texas and has represented clients on both sides of the docket.
Ms. Devaney was born in Bakersfield, California. She attended UC San Diego as an undergraduate and earned her J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law. As a law student, she was a member of Hastings Business Law Journal, Hastings Trial Law Association, and UC Hastings Business Law Society. She previously served as an intern for the Kern County District Attorney's office, and as a law clerk for a premier insurance defense litigation firm serving business and insurance communities across the U.S. and around the world.
Attorney Marianne Barth
Marianne Barth is an experienced attorney whose practice is devoted to business and civil litigation, including extensive litigation in high asset marital dissolution cases. For more than 20 years, Ms. Barth has handled complex litigation involving complex business matters, product liability matters, and family law matters. She has represented physicians, hospitals and other health care professionals in professional malpractice, licensing, regulatory, administrative matters and business claims.
Ms. Barth also focuses her practice on family law, handling divorces involving family owned and professional businesses, support and child-related matters. Her years of experience handling complex civil and business litigation has given her the experience, judgment and expertise to understand and successfully resolve the complex financial, business and emotional issues that present in divorce cases. Having handled many complex litigations involving significant financial matters, Marianne brings a very unique approach to the divorce and family law cases she handles.
Attorney Cara Filippelli
Since joining Brophy & Bland, PLLC in 2021, Cara has represented clients in complex business litigation, commercial litigation, and general civil litigation matters in both Texas state courts and federal courts.
Cara graduated Cum Laude from DePaul College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. While in law school, she worked as a law clerk for a boutique civil litigation firm, where she conducted research and drafted motions, pleadings, discovery, and other documents for civil litigation matters including economic torts, defense of licensed professionals, and insurance coverage. Cara also gained nearly two years of experience writing criminal appeals, first through DePaul College of Law's Advanced Criminal Appeals Clinic, then through two semesters as an intern at the Illinois Office of the State Appellate Defender. Cara also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Franklin U. Valderrama.
