Veronica Garza earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Wesleyan School of Law. She did her undergraduate studies at Texas State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science and a minor in Psychology. Ms. Garza, a US citizen born in Mexico, to a Mexican mother and an American father, has experienced first-hand the complexities of the US immigration system and is always able to relate to her clients’ plight.
Her passion for immigration law started in her law school years, when she was awarded a coveted fellowship that allowed her to spend an intensive summer immersed in the practice of immigration law. After graduation, Ms. Garza was hired by a large local nonprofit organization to be their immigration attorney on staff. Ms. Garza spent over six years being an essential piece in the development and growth of the immigration department at that agency.
She started as the only attorney on staff working on waivers of inadmissibility, a craft that she developed to a point of expertise that has taken her to national conferences to teach on the subject, and to have some samples of her work published as a guide for newer practitioners. Ms. Garza developed a profound knowledge in all areas of immigration law including family based, humanitarian relief, citizenship, and removal defense. She handled many cases related to U visa, VAWA, and asylum.
Josefina Louis earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas in Arlington in 2010. She first became interested in immigration law in 2012, through her internship at a large nonprofit in Fort Worth, Texas. Because of her tireless work and dedication to the nonprofit’s DACA program, that same year she was hired on as a part-time caseworker. During this time, Mrs. Louis was studying at the Texas Wesleyan School of Law, now known as the Texas A&M School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate in May 2014. In November 2014, Mrs. Louis was licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas.
Before joining the Law Offices of Veronica Garza, PLLC, Mrs. Louis worked for nonprofits and private law firms. She was the Senior Attorney at a nonprofit in Houston, Texas where she provided immigration guidance to her staff and the general public through numerous Know Your Rights presentations. Mrs. Louis’s immigration experience includes family-based and humanitarian cases, such as Family Petitions, Waivers of Inadmissibility and Unlawful Presence, Special Immigrant Juvenile cases, applications for Naturalization, Asylum claims, and Nunc Pro Tunc cases.
Mrs. Louis continues to be committed to immigration law, and her main goal is to provide exceptional service, honesty, and care to every case she works on. She understands the importance of family unity and is dedicated to advocate for her immigration clients by helping them navigate a very complex area of the law. Mrs. Louis is a first-generation Mexican-American, born and raised in Texas, and she is fluent in English and Spanish. She is a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association and the International and Immigration Law Section. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
