Attorney Josh Smith

Josh Smith’s practice focuses on representing businesses in simple and complex business litigation and acting as outside general counsel for companies of all kinds, from start-ups to large established businesses. He has experience representing businesses throughout the marketplace, from tech companies to manufacturers, and product suppliers. Josh ensures that he understands a client’s business first so that he can provide informed, intelligent, and cost-effective solutions to their legal issues, whether they are in the courtroom or boardroom.

Josh’s practice areas include business litigation, trade secret and unfair competition cases, and employment. He litigates in both state and federal court and handles a matter from the trial level through any appeal.  

Outside the courtroom, Josh works with clients to implement strategies and practices to avoid litigation. He advises businesses and individuals on various employment, contract, and business-related matters and negotiates with environmental regulators and potential adversaries to resolve disputes before they reach the courthouse.

Josh is a Greenville native, a graduate of Clemson University and the USC School of Law. During law school Josh served as an editorial board member for the Southeastern Environmental Law Journal and worked as a law clerk for the EPA and SCDHEC.

When not practicing law, Josh enjoys spending time with his family and whitewater kayaking throughout the region. 

Josh is active in the local and legal community. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Arts Council and currently serves as the Chair of the Board for TreesUpstate. Josh is a member of the Haynsworth/Perry Inn of Court, an organization dedicated to civility in the bar.


Attorney Josh Hudson

Josh is an experienced litigator with more than 13 years practicing law. Josh handles trustee litigation in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and represents corporate clients and lenders in disputes that involve breach of contracts or collections. He also represents individuals in real estate litigation, personal injury litigation, and general civil litigation.   Before moving to Greenville, his wife’s hometown, Josh cut his teeth with five years in a small-town general practice in his hometown of Danville, Kentucky. This general practice foundation in a variety of disciplines allowed Josh to gain experience in numerous areas of dispute resolution and transactional work, and gave him the right blend of skills and responsiveness needed to adeptly practice in various areas of the law.   Josh graduated from Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2001. In 2006, he earned his Juris Doctor from Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law. He was admitted into the Kentucky state bar in 2006 and the South Carolina state bar in 2012.    Josh has been recognized multiple times by his peers for his outstanding work and commitment to the spirit of the legal profession. His knowledge of the law, professional work ethic, and advocacy on behalf of clients has made him a trusted advisor for both individuals and businesses alike.   Josh has always been active in trade associations and civic boards. He has served as a Mentor Greenville Volunteer, a YMCA Judson Community Center Board Member, and was a member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce Leadership Greenville Class 45. In addition to his activities with professional organizations, he is committed to the community in which he lives and works. When not in the office or courtroom, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife, Erin, and their three children, and rooting for the Kentucky Wildcats. He and his family are active members of Christ Church Episcopal where Josh is the Chair of the Outreach Committee.
