Over the last two decades, Michael has built a formidable reputation in the legal profession representing employees, executives and partners of all levels in all areas of employment law against the most reputable firms worldwide. Michael's professional experience spans from representing senior-level executives in contract negotiations and general counsel advisory services, to litigating contract and other employment claims before federal and state courts, administrative agencies, and arbitrators, including FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority), EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission), JAMS, AAA (American Arbitration Association) and New York State Division of Human Rights. Michael has conducted countless mediations before these same organizations.
Michael has extensive trial experience litigating claims before juries, judges and panels in all forms of discrimination, breach of contract and the myriad tort claims (e.g., defamation, wrongful discharge, negligent hiring or supervision, etc.) arising out of the employment relationship. He also has extensive experience advising and litigating in the rapidly growing field of employee non-competition law, compensation benefits and the growing epidemic of wage & hour litigation on the Federal and State level. Michael has also successfully argued before both State and Federal courts in New York and throughout the Country.
While Michael's practice consists primarily of employees and executives in the financial services sector, his practice has evolved and expanded to providing legal advice and litigation services to those same individuals as their own professions transform from employee/executive to employer/management. This expansion also includes serving as special counsel to many financial services firms.
Michael also has several years of transactional experience, structuring and drafting operating agreements, shareholder agreements and other partnership and corporate documents. Michael has had the unique opportunity of successfully enforced agreements he has drafted before Courts of law.
Michael frequently appears as a presenter for several organizations providing power point presentations on employment law and employer-employee relations. In addition, he has authored numerous articles on various employment law topics including discretionary bonuses, insider trading, employment liability issues in the contingent workforce, FMLA notice and overtime laws. He also remains on preferred employment counsel lists for various organizations throughout New York City.
Alex advises and represents employees on various employment law and litigation matters involving executive compensation, breach of contract, breach of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other issues arising under federal and state employment laws and regulations, with a particular focus on the financial services industry.
I had an issue come up and was given Jonathan’s number. I gave him a call and he immediately got to work (even though he was out of the office). We setup some time to meet in his office, discussed what was going on, and from that point forward he not only worked his magic, but was able to explain what might happen, what would happen, and what options we should think about before they happened.
I engaged Jonathan and his team to assist with an age and gender discrimination situation at my former firm. Jonathan was responsive and supportive. He was with me every step of the way, and were ultimately vindicated. Jonathan is a straight shooter. He brings decades of experience to the table. I am thankful that he was on my team and I highly recommend him.
Johnathan Sack is a kind and generous attorney. He answered all my calls while he was on vacation with his family and made me feel at ease with my case. I would go to him for any matter big or small as him and his team can handle it.
Represented me against my former employer (a large bank) in a retaliation and discrimination claim. Quietly resolved the matter by negotiating a very generous severance package representing multiple years of my annual compensation. Very knowledgeable and capable attorney. Developed and executed a result-oriented strategy that yielded quick and confidential results
I was terminated from my job at an investment bank, and was treated unfairly. I went to several employment attorneys, and they all refused my case because there was no “smoking gun.” Jonathan was able to get me what I deserved. His best skill is good-old-fashioned tenacity. You want him on your side. Period.
